Reading the Bible (A.S.A.P.)* (*As Simply As Possible)

This rather lengthy title (and that's not all of it) is the project I'm working on next post-Theological Journal. It's been gestating for some time as my interest and commitment has always been attempting to keep one foot in the pew and one in the academy. Nowhere is that more important than in dealing with the scripture.

This study I will take the bull by the horns and give my take on the multitude of issues in a no-holds-barred manner. I don't have all the answers but I've lots of opinions about these issues. I think we've not yet truly grasped the nettle of the Bible, the Church, and its Authority. I hope to propose a way forward on that here. I will work with what I take to be the best of biblical scholarship and try not to overlook or diminish problems. I will try and make my assumptions and faith commitments clear.

The three parts of this study are:

    1. Why No One Can Read the Bible Aright in America

    2. The Ex-Files (The Old Testament)

    3. The Rex-Files (The New Testament)

Let's rock 'n roll then!
